The Story of a Father and a Sketch

Our story began on a quiet, late night in a house in the United States. Thousands of miles away in China, a 9-year-old girl sat at her desk, missing her father who was pursuing his doctoral studies abroad. She picked up a crayon and drew a “scrawly” portrait of her dad with a bright red heart, whispering, “I wonder if he’s doing okay. I miss him”.

That night, Jason—the father and founder of KidsMemory—received a photo of that drawing from his wife. Looking at the simple lines and the pure love captured on paper, the cold silence of the lab and the library seemed to vanish. He wanted to do more than just save a photo on his phone; he wanted to hold that piece of her heart close to him every single day.

From Paper to Heart

Jason had an idea: he turned his daughter’s sketch into a custom tattoo sticker and placed it on his arm. During their weekend video call, he revealed the surprise. Seeing her art “alive” on her father’s arm, the little girl jumped with joy, and tears of happiness filled her mother’s eyes. In that moment, the Pacific Ocean didn’t feel so wide anymore.
